Our mission is to create natural, ethically sourced skincare using premium organic shea butter from Ghana and cold-pressed oils from across the African continent. Since Africa is our origin, it only makes sense everything our skin needs comes from its soil.
We're committed to craft our products in artisanal batches to preserve maximum potency and efficacy.
Our journey
The frustration
Like many melanated people living abroad, I struggled with the cold/dry climate. My skin just couldn't handle being constantly dry and uncomfortable no matter what I tried. I guess at some point you just accept it... until you cant anymore.
That's when I went back to what has always worked: shea butter. I also decided that for my skin, i should only use products/ingredients that are sourced from my own continent. Africa.
The realisation
On one, of the many, cold days, I had some argan oil nearby. While trying to soften the shea butter in my palms, I added a few drops of the oil. Suddenly, the texture was smoother and easier to spread on my skin. So before starting with the formulas, i listed a few effects that the butters should have and researched what African plants and seed oils could work as a catalyzer
The creation
I started experimenting with different oils, watching how they affected the texture and how my skin responded. Adding essential oils made the experience better and brought their own benefits. Through trial and error, the product slowly evolved to what they are today.
What do we want?
The whole journey leading to NkuMRKT is to solve the same problem I had. That's why affordability matters so much to me. Good, natural skincare shouldn't be overpriced or hard to find. Every pot we make follows this principle: Quality over quantity.
